Re: Adjustable lifter issue

We used green at a place I worked in the early nineties. Basically “gluing” a bronze bushing sleeve in place. After that stuff set, that bushing wasn’t moving for love or money…..

Re: Adjustable lifter issue

Yeah. You’re not going to be adjusting anything that has had green loctite placed on it after it has cured.

Re: Best Wax to Restore original Black Paint

Once upon a time I went to school at Maguire’s in Irvine. The first thing they told us was that not all paint can be “brought back.”
So, how aggressive do you want to go?
In general, we’d use...

Re: Quality Radiator Shop in SoCal?

Fontana radiator put my original tanks on a new core, etc. for my ‘48 truck.
Definitely competent.

Re: We must honor all veterans

I see a sampling of them all at the VA hospital where I work. Not many WWll vets left at this point but I did speak to one a couple of weeks back setting up an appointment for him. A fair number of...

Re: Photo of Lins' Reproduction tool kit.

I bought a jack for my F-1 from him a couple or three months ago and he wasn’t doing well at all. May he rest in peace.

Re: FedEx lost my rebuilt '39 trans

I used to ship auto parts for a living, but it’s been a few years. Very few issues with FedEx. Much more volume (and issues) with UPS. You remember the stuff that was ridiculous, like a personal UPS...

Re: aftermarket water temp gauge?

I’ve got a “Y” in the back port on the passenger side head with a mechanical sender in it. Only tells me what the one side is doing though.
Factory gauge in the dash is still operational as well.

Re: Delco Radio - late '30s

Dayton Engineering Laboratories Company
I worked for Delco during the time it was AC-Delco…… AC standing for Albert Champion.
That’s a cool radio.

Re: Switch to silicon brake fluid?

Never used it. I wouldn’t retrofit it. Girling doesn’t seem to be too fond of it-

Re: What starter solinoid do I need?

Probably would work either way as far as the big
terminals are concerned.

Re: Throwout bearing

The originals were Aetna. Here’s one for my ‘48 truck. I checked when I was at NTN and Aetna still was making them, I believe, but they got acquired by an equity firm in 2016. Who knows what the...

Re: 94 carb leak at accelerator pump shaft

Try that on an Autolite 4100. I can assure you it's not simple.

Re: Positive ground battery disconnect switch?

It only matters to sanctioning bodies like the NHRA.
They always say it should be on the positive side and should stop all electrical functions.
Their reasoning is, if the switch is on the negative...

Re: 94 carb leak at accelerator pump shaft

I’ve rebushed throttle shafts before, when the value of the carb was so high that you had to do it that way. Made the shaft bushings, etc. Not something you’d want to do again, that’s for sure. The...

Re: 94 carb leak at accelerator pump shaft

I just spent 2-3 hours over the course of a couple of weekends screwing around with the one I have, which has maybe 2000 total miles on it. The rumor is, they don't like to sit and I found that...

Re: 94 carb leak at accelerator pump shaft

Well, that doesn't make a lot of sense. There shouldn't be fuel getting anywhere near that pump rod shaft. The wet side of that arrangement is the pump cup "well" next to that. Even a bad top gasket,...

Holley 94 squirter (accelerator pump discharge nozzle)

The factory squirter I’m looking for is stamped with a 71, obviously the orifice size. That item I borrowed and works like a charm. (the problem child that was on there prior is probably an offshore...

Re: 8BA Fan Hub grease or oil for lubrication?

I have one in my parts cabinet. Was on my truck for a couple years. The bearings inside those things are too small, so they are literally at their design limits any time they’re being used. Life...
