Re: 46 SD tube shocks interference

Flipped the sway bar end links.....I assume its in the correct position now.

Gives me room for a shock to clear everything. Will require about an 18 inch shock, which I think is correct.....

Re: 46 SD tube shocks interference

Ok.......see if Y'all agree

I think the lower mounts are aftermarket perch bolts that were cut off.

Hopefully the pictures show the "serrations" I think were done by a cut off wheel.

My...

Re: 46 SD tube shocks interference

Rich....I tried your suggestion, the welded pad doesnt sit on top of the wishbone, its just off to the side......also places the lower shock bolt hole further back, shock wont reach.....

Re: 46 SD tube shocks interference

I took off the lower mounts from both sides, definitely a right and left (mirror images). The is a small hole and a large hole. the large is for the shock bolt.

Played with it and this is the...

Re: 46 SD tube shocks interference

Im going to try flipping the lower mount around and see if anything improves.
Feel like I shouldn't have to use shims if its a kit. You can see the witness marks and dent on the lower shock tube.

Re: 46 SD tube shocks interference

Seems like the lower mount is oriented wrong.

Should the shock be more vertical?

I have no idea what kit this is......maybe some instructions out there somewhere showing correct install.

46 SD tube shocks interference

These were on the car when I bought it....46 Super Deluxe 2dr sedan.

The sway bar is hitting as the the pictures show. I do have the car on jack stands with the suspension unloaded.

Re: 46 Super Deluxe track bar bent?

If you look at the last set of pictures, I would mount yours the same way.

The "kink" on the passenger side. The bend in the kink down.
You can see how the bar is mounted on the bolt on mount...

Re: 46 Super Deluxe track bar bent?

Here is the same technical drawing I found in a parts catalogue. I assume the way its oriented is the way its to be installed.

Re: 46 Super Deluxe track bar bent?

I think the bend on the drivers side is suppose to be there.....Found a shop manual drawing, shows the bend near the end, but straight otherwise

Re: 8BA 3 blade cooling fan upgrade

My fan is on the factory set up. No oil lubrication I can see.

Where did you get your shroud, or did you fabricate one?

8BA 3 blade cooling fan upgrade

I have a 46 Super deluxe with a 51 8BA engine. It has the original 3 blade fan (narrow pulley).

Im in Texas, I think I know the answer, ......is it worth the expense to go with a 4 blade or more?...

Re: Fuel pump turbulence 8BA

Finally got my rebuild kit installed on the pump. My old sediment bowl gasket was rubber and cracked, but stuck pretty good the the housing.
My kit came with the cork one.

The original rubber...

Re: Fuel pump turbulence 8BA

I ordered a kit and some extra sediment bowl gaskets. Hopefully this will cure it.

I do have a metal cased fuel filter before the pump, secured with worm style hose clamps.

Re: Fuel pump turbulence 8BA

Ok, thanks

Been trying to find an Apco kit, to no avail.

I have the part number 11A-9349, it pops up, but not stating Apco.

I want to use a quality kit obviously.
