This poor old truck sat in a very wet area for a very long time. The owners lived in a very hilly area and in the late 70's drove their 1929 A pickup behind their house and parked it. They kept canvas and plastic tarps on it...and it trapped moisture and just ate away at the poor ol girl.
Fast forward to this year and a friend of a friend was hired to install new windows in these folk's home. He inquired about the ol truck under the tarps and they said if he wanted it, he could have it! Well, he didn't, and my friend told me about it. I called the owners and she said the same thing...if I could get it out, I could have it. She said others had come over to take her up on the offer, but left because they thought that they would never get it out. I told her I was certainly interested but I did not want to simply take it. A price was struck that made us both happy and I headed over. The way they got the truck back there was next to their house or the North side. A fence had since been built there blocking the path. I could drag it over to the South side of the home and across the front yard, but the yard was VERY steep and making the 90 degree corner to the side of the house was gonna be tough with all the brush and hill side. We decided to go for it. With 4 flat tires and the drums being very stiff to turn, I figured it would'nt take off too fast. Luckily the plan worked and a couple hours later she was out and on the street! It's a rough lil pickup, but with a new drivers front fender, hood shelves, splash aprons, running boards and box (or repair the whole bottom of the box) it would be a clean lil hauler. The cab is very sound. It is 100% complete as far as I can tell. The engine is stuck, may see if I can get it loose. Too bad it sat outside, otherwise it would probably be a very nice lil truck. shows 40,000 miles. The owner sprayed the ugly primer on it years ago trying to preserve it. I don't know what I'm going to do with it, it was more the challenge of getting it that struck me ![]() Here's the front yard. You can from the angle of my F-250 and the A how steep it was...and this was only 1/3 the battle! ![]() ![]() ![]()

Ah, but for the patron saint of lost causes! I often say the hard way is the best way. Nothing like a challenge to get one motivated! Congratulations!

![]() ![]() ![]() Chris: With that red light attached to the front bumper brace makes you wonder what the truck was originally used for - maybe a volunteer fireman? And there's a "button" in the middle of the dash rail that might have been connected to a siren? ![]() Nice find! Fred

You have a nice 30-31 bumper you can cut up and make chisels out of.
I have one nearly the same except its for 28-29. Not made into chisels yet. Thinking of the chrome tape idea mentioned a few days ago. Also, I see you belong to the 'transitional' club. After October 29 until June 30 production. 30-31 wheel, probably 30-31 gas cap. Hmm. Bumper might be original. Joe K

Do pickups have a thicker steering wheel than a car?

That is really pretty good. Pickups usually have the back panel and corners all smashed in from careless loading of heavy items. that one looks real good.

No. This truck has a later 30-31 steering wheel.

When I see old cars like this I can't help wondering what it looked like when they parked it. Such a shame to see nature do its thing. Time ruins everything! Good luck with your project, this one can be saved. Ed

It is a great find and good looking truck. One thing I noticed is that you have asecond wiper arm. Now that is a neat accessory for the NW that will come in VERY handy.
