Default Dome Light Mounting Wood Installation

Sponsored Links (Register now to hide all advertisements)
I have a 1930 Tudor that I am rebuilding and want to install a dome light. I have installed all new top wood and am at the point of installing the dome light mounting wood.

I have a new wood block and mounting brackets. I know where it goes and how to run the wires to it but I can’t figure out how to attach it to the ribs.

The block is not long enough to reach from one rib to the next so it will be attached at both ends. Does only one end get screwed to a rib. If so it does not seem that it will be very secure.

The mounting brackets consist of one long bracket that is NOT an “L” shape. One side is angled at about 45 degrees. The other two brackets are short tabs that have a slight bend in them.

I have tried placing the wood and the mounting brackets in different directions but do not see how to attach it to a rib(s) so it comes out level.

I did a search for prior posts that covered this but did not find anything.

Does anyone have a picture of what the wood block is suppose to look like installed, or can point me in the direction of instructions on how to do this.

As usual, I greatly appreciate your assistance.

Mark
