Default charging 6v pos ground

When you are charging a 12 v neg ground battery with a standard battery charger you connect the black clip to the negative pole and the red clip to the positive pole.

If the car is positive ground do you still charge the battery this way? Thanks.

Yes, but be sure to set the charger for 6 volts.

And, don't accidently think the ground cable is hooked to the negative. That's an easy mistake. As many times as I've charged my battery it still seems real weird to hook the positive clamp to the post that has the braided ground wire attached to it.

That's a good way to let all the smoke out of the battery
