ODD BRACE ON 36 BED.jpg
I got no response to previous post about this strange feature on a couple of 36 pickup bed sides so I thought I would re-post with a picture. This is in fact a basically original 36 Ford pickup, NOT A 37. Can anyone enlighten me about how this brace came to be on a 36 PU? I have pictures of two different pickups with this brace. One May 36 and the other very near the end of 36 production. Darn if old Henry can't keep us mystified. lol |

I wonder if toward the end of the production run in 36 they used some of the new '37 beds but still used the 35/6 tailgate? It would be interesting to check the length of the bed.

I would love to see some pictures of your 36. Does it by any chance have any of the original floormat? What about a picture of the area where the brace would be if it had one, showing the holes. The two originals I have pictures of had the brace spot welded, not bolted. This is almost keeping me up nights trying to figure old Henry out. lol

I have those on my '41 and they are next to the openings for side panels. Probably support item.

What about a picture of your 41, showing that area. I know they were on 37 and probably appeared for a few years after that, I'm trying to find out when Henry started putting that brace on. It looks like 36 so far, but I have seen them on only 3 36's and am still confused about those.
