Best Model A Rear Spring?

I have not been happy with the last two front springs that I have purchased.

So what vendor is the best source for correct and authentic 7-leaf rear springs?

There is a vendor in West Hartford, Ct. that makes springs for both Model T's & Model A's. I do not have any experience with them. There website is listed under the springs on the vendors list on the sticky's above. Harold

SPRINGS ,{ A-springs.com }or 1- 806-233-3557 Conn. They will be at Hershey where you can pick them up and save on shipping.. Which i have done. He stands behind his work !

Thanks. I actually talked with Travis Cook of A-Spring while at the August show in Stowe. He did not have a vendors space, but was parked next to me with his truck. Great to chat with.

I probably will not make it to Hershey, so I'll have to find out if shipping a heavy product to Canada is going to cost me more than the product itself.

Do you know if he supplies the usual Model A vendors (Bratton's, Synders), etc., or is what they sell a completely different spring?

That's a question you must ask him. But i think he is on his own selling them to no vendors.you don't know anyone going to Hershey from Canada???? Shipping will cost you at least $60.00 and paper work... I know Ross MILNE ,president of the 180A club and from Ont. Canada, and i plan on meeting him at Hershey,, maybe he can deliver them to Canada ???? i have his number if you want to go that route?

We have used front and rear springs from Travis and they are true to the blueprints. I don't know if they sell through the vendors or just direct.

Ross Milne is a friend of mine and member of our club up here. I rode with him on the mandatory at French Lick after my vehicle developed a babbitt issue. I'll give him a call.

I recently purchased and installed a set of rear springs from A-Springs.com in Connecticut, (Travis), on my 68C, Cabriolet, and they work very well.
I jsut returned from a couple of hundred mile trip and they worked as hoped for.

I sent him a check from Long Island, NY on Saturday, and they were on my doorstep Tuesday morning.

No surprises on installation except he suggested that I should grease between the leaves which was maybe a half hour, no-sweat, deal.

The first replacement front spring was purchased from a small Model A vendor in the upper mid-west. After pulling the original and assembling the replacement, I could not put on the original spring clamps as the dimples were on the sixth leaf instead of the fifth as orginal. Since the vendor did not have spring clamps to fit the extra thickness, I returned the spring.

I purchased another front spring in Canada and had the very same issue. I then discovered that Bratton's manufactures 3 different size spring clamps to address the variations of repro front springs and ordered the largest which just barely fit with a lot of effort. Individual leaves also vary in length, compared to originals. Also, overall thickness was greater, making it necessary to use all metal self-locking nuts on the U-Bolts, instead of the original castle nuts with cotter pin.

I don't believe the vendors I purchased these springs from were actually aware of discrepancies from the manufacturer and were always helpful.
