Default Ford Vs. Rolls...

This video might be a little late for us here at the Ford Barn, but I fell in love with it and had to post it. Essentially, it's a one-minute spot produced by Ford that shows consumers just how quiet the 1965 Ford is relative to high-dollar Rolls Roy...

I remember this. Ford did it a few times during the Sixties with Roll Royces. When I was a kid, my buddys' uncle worked at the Ford Test Track. They ran a Ford and Rolls together on a durability test. The word was The test was stopped at around 20,000 miles due to the cost of repair parts needed for the Rolls.

I also remember that commercial. Very clever. Interesting that the Rolls, in 1965, was a $16,000 car. Now, you can't buy a well equipped Ford Focus for that money.

Me too, on remembering the commercial. In about '71 or '72 I bought a '65 LTD. It was a quiet smooth car. Obviously never got to compare it with a Rolls but an uncle always had new or near new Cadillacs and after the first ride in the LTD my dad said "this car is sure quieter than Truman's Cadillac"! The LTD had probably 80-100,000 miles on it; many more than the Caddy, anyway.

Cool video.
I have two '65 Fords, both station wagons. They are better than a Rolls.
At least I think so!
