Default On the road again!

Well, we pulled the head and pan off to fix some minor problems. Dad was able to get rid of the knock in the rods after some playing with the shims and we put a new gasket on after having the head machined flat. We got her fired up and she is sort of smooth. Just figuring that the engine needs to break in a bit. Everything is in working order, carb, gen etc. We let her just idle for about two hours yesterday and this morning to start seating things.

So today I took her out for the first time around the development. A little rough at first but she smothed out in time and on the second run I got her up to a blistering 30 mph. I might need to get a nomex suit and helmet for her now. Thanks to all the barners who answered my questions about the leaking stud and HG. I retorqued the head to 60 lbs. and no leakage!!!! So the end result is that for the first time in probably 40 yrs. she has not dripped/leaked anything at all and has plenty of power and will smooth out into a superb engine. Pics will get uploaded when I get home.

Mike
