Default Removing generator pulley

Anyone know the best way to remove a generator pulley on a 59AB? I have removed the lock ring at the front. The shaft is threaded. So far the generator is still assembled. I welcome your thoughts.

While installing a generator and fan pulley on my 59AB engine I noticed that there was no place for the fan hub assembly to attach. I called Karl Wolfsperger and he not only told me that my generator bracket was from an earlier model, but went on to say he had the right one (with the needed bolt holes) in his flathead stash. I must have sounded pitiful because Karl said he would be glad to exchange it for my old one and the shipping. What a Barner. If you see him on the street, tip your hat. He's a good guy.

The way that I've done it... Remove housing, put armature in vise, use pipe wrench or strap wrench around pulley - usually comes apart easy - so minimal marks on pulley, which I easily polish off.

Thanks Bob. I disassembled it, put the armature in the vise and used a strap wrench. The pulley came right off. Youdaman.

Where do you clamp the armature in the vise to keep from damaging it? I've got a screeching front generator bearing

Never mind, it came right off. I just didn't want to damage anything. I clamped it at the winding body, obviously not the commutator. After scraping a little crud off I found the lockring and the front bearing and felt seals popped out. It looks OK, I think the rear bushing was making noise, it looks a little dry. Is there supposed to be a hole in the bushing to allow oil in from the oiling cap?
