Have been trying to get a good link to specialty motor cams but so far have come up empty. The 1932 B 4 with a cragar OHv conversion, a scat crank and scat rods etc after not even being run in like 400 miles or less. Developed a Donka donka noise , I thought small end knock . Upon pulling it down found the timing gear had excessive back lash and the weird coating was coming off and going through things. Plus two lifters not rotating, maybe a poorly ground local cam with little or no taper on two lobes. Haven’t got the crank out yet.
But a good contact for stipe would be a great start. Last edited by my4dv8; 12-19-2025 at 12:28 AM. Reason: Ot |

Are oversize cam gears available for the bangers? I know they are for V8's.

400 miles is too early to tell. The tooth wear looks fine, so no line boring related issues. However those usually take many more miles to develop.
Aluminum cam gears are well known to make noise. Mines been in for tens of thousands of miles, and most think I have a rod knock. I don’t. |

Wouldn’t the oversize or undersized gear be needed if it was align bored?
