Default New Fan!

Last night I finally changed the stock fan (looked fine) to the two blade aluminum one. I had been putting it off and hadn't driven the car since last August. I just haven't felt like doing anything. Things at work might have me depressed. I told myself that I'll do this for my wife and it did seem to cheer her up some, too. Tonight there is a car show 15 miles away in our hometown so we're going to get it out this year finally! Hopefully we can get it to the 'Model A Days' at the Amana Colonies again this year!

Don't let the bastards grind you down. = "Illegitimi non carborundum"
Apparently not correct Latin grammar, but good enough for our purposes.

I like Clint Eastwood's cliche, "Don't let the old man in!" By the way, I got a 3 in my high school latin course, but I did well with French.

Catman, when is Model A Days at Amana? I've never been and this year is the time to go...

I used to run up to Sharon, Wisconsin that was always a fun time but since they moved it to another town I lost interest and never went back.

I have the two bladed fan installation ahead of me. One thing to watch out for is that the water pump housing may rub on the inside of the fan hub. The clearances are very close. I think the easiest fix is to slightly grind back the water pump housing. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Ed

Yes I did I had to grind the outer edge of the water pump housing on mine when you look at the water pump housing from the end it was a machine a little bit off center so I had to grind the thicker part of the casting to clear the new aluminum fan blade and pulley.

I got a 0 in my Spanish class in high school. I still have problems with English, which is my native tongue. No Hablo Espanol.

Thanks for the encouragement! Unfortunately it didn't go well. It was 85 & sunny out. All was well till 5 miles in and we had to sit at a 'construction light' for one lane traffic. After that it wouldn't run right and would be losing power. We struggled to get across the Dam at 15mph! The backfiring out of the exhaust was louder than any Civil War cannon. If you recall, we had issues last year, and we still have some of that gas in there. After crossing the Dam and construction a second time we pulled over to let it cool off for 20 minutes. The rest of the way home (5 miles) it was just fine. I'm thinking possible vapor lock? Maybe bad gas from that last fill up? It did start to surge some as we were headed for the construction. So, so much for my triumphant return from doing nothing......

Help me understand this more. Can the condenser be tested? Would it only be troublesome at times, but not others? Does it cause the light surging or bucking that I've felt on the highway? I couldn't get it to act up later in Friday night's adventures.

It could possibly be heat related. How cool was it on Friday Night on your cruise?

It was 85 & sunny. The humidity was high, but I don't suppose humidity matters. Once it cooled down for 20 minutes it was good to go the 5 miles back home.

Are you running the original condenser or is it under the cap? Part is inexpensive enough. I keep a spare in the car just in case. (cheap insurance policy)

The condenser is stock and in it's stock place. Everything on the car is stock.
