Default 1950 Mercury rear fender removal

My 1950 4 door Mercury needs the rear fender rust spots repaired; in the usual spot, at the front of the fender. (I can not find patch panels.)
How do these fenders come off the car? I can see where they are bolted, however, how are they removed just behind the rear door ... soldered on? I have checked the parts books but do not have a clue at this connection. I can not find a seam.
I want to hang my fender skirts but am really afraid they will both "fly off."

I'm not aware of any removable rear fenders on a 50 Merc. Just the rear quarter panel which is not removable. If you need to repair it just cut out the bad section and patch it. I don't think any patch panels are available for repairs anymore.

Only the lower portion is bolt removable. The upper section is welded. Lowers for coupes might be available or at least they were. There is a fellow on the HAMB that fabricates some sheet metal for the 49-51 Mercs.

Thanks for the info on the rear panel. I see plenty of bolts on the lower section, however, it is at the front connection to the "C" pillar; it must be welded, I see no bolts.
