I have a 29 fenderless hiboy that we are thinking of bringing to our home in Machias Maine from our home in Ocala, Florida sometime in the spring of 2025. I have used transporters before but I am looking for an enclosed hauler that hauls one or two cars. I am trying to get a ballpark price on the cost. I know prices vary due to being able to get another car to get out of the area. Any thoughts? THX. Jay

About 3 years ago I took my 29 Roadster from Sebassian, FL to Rhode Island. I also wanted to take lots of tools, an air compresser, etc. Rented a small enclosed one way trailer from Uhaul and it wored perfect! Hauled it with my Dodge 2500 diessel.

If you have a nice truck or SUV and can rent an enclosed trailer, that may be the way to go. Make sure you have the right kind of insurance.

You're looking for a very difficult thing to do.With a load of cars, you get to share the cost others with 6 or so others. One or two? the price has to go up,the fuel cost alone is almost identical between a 6 car trailer and a 2 car trailer. The location is a killer too.The chance of getting a return haul from there is about zero.Machias and Ocala are 1600 miles apart.I've made that trip.My friend had a farm in Machias, and a summer place in Ocala.I'm just about 300 miles south of Machias, that truck is going to have to run empty down to around here to line up another car to haul. That truck gets paid the same for marching as it does for fighting, loaded or empty,it has to get paid.I hauled a small backhoe up there once,I had a hard time getting through to the owners that I did NOT charge only the loaded mile. That 7+ hour ride back was not free.

Thanks all for the replies. Over the years I have owned Suburban's and Duallys along with enclosed and open trailers. Our daily driver is a Benz E Wagon the perfect car for navigating around the seniors here in Ocala. My guess is the cost will be around $3,000. I guess we will have to wait until spring for the surprise. Thanks All, Jay

Hello Jay,
You are more than welcome to contact me a month or so before you want the car transported. I have a big enough customer base that I generally do not have any issues getting return trips booked. Also my per loaded mile rate does not change according to what other vehicles I am transporting back, logistics are part of a transporters job. When I quote you a cash price that is what you pay upon delivery. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...closed.614419/ God Bless Bill Squires(owner) Bill's Auto Works (216)832-8697 No texts
