Can anyone tell me the model number of this double action fuel pump from a 1950 Mercury? I see the following numbers on the body but they don't seem to be model numbers: 5590077 on the top flange and 4524 on the mounting flange.

FoMoCo listed two part numbers for dual action fuel pumps. The 8CM-9350-A for 1949 and the 8BA-9350-C for 1950/51 but they may have been mixed at some assembly plants. The difference is the style of vacuum pump on the bottom. One is shorter than the other. There may be a difference in manufacturers. AC made pumps for Ford but I'm not sure about others. There may have also been aftermarket pumps.

I found someone that makes rebuild kits. I ordered them last July, but my letter got lost using an incorrect address. Pix of the contact and kit below. Be sure you use the address shown on his card, the address shown on his website is the incorrect one.

A couple of places you can try:
https://www.then-now-auto.com/fuel-p...fp-kits-single http://www.classicpreservation.com/fuelpumpkits.html If you have no luck, the later dual action pump (on the 53' Merc) might be a possible substitute. Just a thought. Last edited by Merc Cruzer; 10-17-2024 at 11:31 AM. |
