Generator Wiring
Gents, I'm working on getting the roadster ready for the road and working on the electrical and lighting.
I have a question about the generator. Attached is a picture of it as it currently is wired. I don't think this is correct. Can anyone advise how it should be wired correctly? I can find lots of pics of other styles but not this one. Thank you and I'll try to answer any questions you may have about it. |

Re: Generator Wiring
Where that wire is connected against the generator's body should be a cutout. A second wire connected to the cutout is for the main wiring harness. You need to look at photos of completed engine compartments, as well as wiring diagrams so that you don't connect up anything incorrectly.

Re: Generator Wiring
Thanks Marshall. The issue I’m having is I can’t find a pic with the cutout that is on my generator. I have seen plenty with the cylindrical style, but not mine so I’m unsure how to wire this one.

And even unsure if it’s correctly mounted to the generator housing as it sits.

Re: Generator Wiring
Here is a site that has all things electrical: https://www.mafca.com/downloads/Semi...ex%20Janke.pdf
Scroll down to see pictures of how the generator is hooked up. Your powerhouse generator is a little different than what is shown in the photos, but the principles are the same.

Re: Generator Wiring
That's a diode cutout - https://www.amazon.com/All-States-Un.../dp/B01N1PZUB3
Connect the output to one side, other side toward battery. If it doesn't work, rotate it 180 degrees. Don't run it long non-working or gen can burn out. Last edited by Badpuppy; 02-22-2024 at 10:35 AM. Reason: brain fart |

Re: Generator Wiring
Gents, I greatly appreciate all your assistance and knowledge. I believe have hooked it up correctly now with one side to the output of the generator and the other to the battery.
