V8 60 stroker
I know all the arguments for building the big brother V8, we have 3 of them running strong! What I am curious is what is the limits in bore and stroke for the V8 60? are there any stroker kits out there for it, and if so, how far can you go with it. I know they ran them for years in the midgets so I would assume what ever could be done to them was done. This is more of a educational question at this point. Thanks

This gives you about 160 ci. depending on the bore. We built several in the late 50's and used a .120 bore. If you really want to get serious, quite a bit of weight can be removed from the cranks which helps for circle track. |

I am assuming that was a French version of the 60, similar to what was done with the bigger block motor? Did you ever try going further with the bore?

For the bore, the sonic test is your friend and will tell you how much you can bore it and leave a good amount of wall. My late engine builder wouldn't leave less then .100 wall on the big brother blocks.

We always set a limit at .090 wall minimum. We had a pipeline gauge for checking. Never had any problems. I think we got away with it because of the small bore. |
