I have an 53 customline with a 6 volt generator. Thinking of switching to an alternator. Whats all involved? Do I have to change pulleys or anything. Thanks

Assuming you have a V8 based on the picture in your profile, you can get an alternator that directly bolts onto your engine, link here: https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Power...Volt,7402.html
If you go with an alternator you need to move a wire at the regulator. You can keep the stock wiring harness (hopefully an amazing condition original or a new reproduction harness). I have to ask why you want to ditch the generator? |

I thought updating it would be more dependable.

In the event of a 6V alternator failure, will it be easier to repair "on the road" than a 6V generator? Probably not.
Better off to stay with your 6V if it's working properly. Carry a spare in your trunk. |

No I'm not. I'll probably stick with the generator.
Thanks everyone |

I see your up in Mora. There is a great shop in St Cloud that has been around for years and years if you need help with your generator.
