Indicator light does not flash, but is faintly glowing all the time! Turn signals work as expected when lever moved.
I have this in my ‘29 Town sedan. No problem for many years, until recently. Please offer suggestions for troubleshooting. I have used 2 different signal switches. I have tried to find a short but to no avail. I would appreciate re-guidance to be certain that I have tested properly. Any sites where shorts are prone to develop? All suggestions for testing will be appreciated and executed. |

I agree with the ground comments, plus, I've found some of the switches packed full of grease causing this issue.

Comments appreciated.
I've wondered about the grease, but I didn't know how to fully remove it and if the grease is the problem I'd assume it must be totally removed. I have tried to check all wires in and out for grounding to no avail. The turn signal switch is connected to the cowl via a separate wire. I don't know how to interpret the observation that the P line from the flasher = 5.9V when disconnected from switch but 1-2 V when connected and the light is glowing. When the switch is turned on, there is a variation of 5-2 V in that line when connected. This variation is coincident with the lights blinking. Also, I didn't note, but the indicator light is never blinking despite the fact that the signal lights outside are just fine. |
