Default 38pu carb adjusting

Hello everyone, the carb (Stromberg 97) is dripping fuel from the emulsion tubes.
I run the std mechanial fuel pump and set the float level as discribed in the manual.

Even when i turning the idle screws nothing happen, there is not much difference in engine speedn when i close them totally or when i get them a 4 turns open.

Anyone any suggestion what can be wrong here ?

The engine at idle is running on fuel overflow from the emulsion tubes, so the idle adjustment has no significant effect. I would suspect a float valve that is not seating properly. First thing to try is to disconnect the fuel line from the carb and blast some carb cleaner into the float bowl opening. That should clean off anything that is preventing the float valve from seating properly. If that does not work, recheck the float level.

Sometimes if the idle mixture screw does nothing it can mean the idle circuit is plugged up. Remove the idle mixture screw and shoot carb cleaner in there and the aforementioned carb inlet. Then blow both out with air. I would pull one of the jet access plugs to drain the float bowl first so you don't stress the needle/float assembly with the pressure. PS, while you have the carb cleaner out, check for vacuum leaks.

I respectfully submit that at any time compressed air and gasoline (and also in this instance carb cleaner) are disposed to join in combat, that invariably the result will include collateral damage. Such be the case, one would be well advised to don protective gear such as face mask or goggles, and to admonish nearby idlers (such as children and ladies) to vacate the immediate area forthwith. I shall not bore you with details of how I came to this realization.
