Renovating a damaged Steering Wheel. 1940 Ford.
In this video I attempt to repair a 1940 steering wheel. I vee out the cracks, build it up with JB Weld and then go on to renovate it. I enjoyed doing it, I hope you enjoy watching me do it.

nice work but how do get around the fact that the steel is rusting and unless you kill or remove all the rust it will continue to rust and as it does expand so causing the epoxy to crack and split as its solid with very limited elasticity. Again nice work but how long would you expect it to last

Hi Merc. I must admit I hadn't really considered that. I don't really expect it to continue to rust. I think that rust formed when stored in poor storage conditions. I think it will have stabilised now stored in the dry.
You're right, though. I just don't know how it will hold up. Time will tell. |

Every. One. An ivory finish didn't help - it's a 41 Buick wheel on my 41 Ford. Considering having it recast. |
