Re: Sad News
Every time I go to a car show here and pretty much have the only flathead. Once in a while one more will show up.

Re: Sad News
Was at a May 14th car show near me, I was the only stock pre-war Ford there, I think there were 3 other pre-war Fords but they were (cough, cough Chevy powered). I think they said 200 cars attended.

Around here only Street Rods or Trucks that are jack up so high that you can almost walk under. One or two original cars that seem out of place. I stop going. Had enough.

I remember that well my Deuce roadster was there in 87 flathead powered of course. 49 years and counting driving the same roadster always powered with some form of Ford flathead block. Ronniroadster

Re: Sad News
That’s too bad. Will going to Jalopy Jam Up in Rockton, ON in August. It’s supposed to be specific for flatheads only, although they had another seperate area for non-flathead pre-64 vehicles. Was there in 2019, but missed the last two years due to Covid lockdowns. 😔

Re: Sad News
Speedway Motors- Museum of American Speed has a cruise-in, last Saturday of the month. On May 28 there were at least 10 flathead-powered cars, both modified and stock. I've been showing My Merc for about 8 years now.... it's ALWAYS the only modified 1950 Mercury that still has a flathead under the hood.

Re: Sad News
The Pine Tree Jamboree at Winterport Dragstrip in Maine being held again in August is a Flathead only event that's well attended. We may bring the fastest gas burning flathead roadster so far for show and tell or maybe our restored Flathead altered that ran opening day 1961 at Connecticut Dragway. The flatheads are out there however they are now at different events than what we saw in the last century.

Didn't take a count at the last Speedway motors coffee cruise May 28 th. however will be doing so at the June event, I'm sure at least a half dozen were in attendence, & if that isn't enough who knows how many are in the museum.

Re: Sad News
"smoko breaks": Among sheep shearers in Australia, the smoko is a mid-morning break, between breakfast and lunch, in which a light meal may be eaten. There is a town in Victoria, Australia called Smoko, which "gained its name in 1865 because gold seekers regularly stopped here for a smoke and a rest on their way to and from the goldfields".

I have to agree with 38Bill. This weekend at Back to the Fifties in St. Paul there are usually, still a good number of Flatheads around. So cool.
