Default Anybody done business with carpart850?

The last few weeks I have put up a couple of posts looking for Model A parts and 2 different new members with 0 posts have used the exact message to tell me to contact carpart850atyahoodotcom and that he has what I am looking for. Well I did reach out to this carpart850 person and it was very different to communicate with them. Gave me the sense of a scammer in action. I did not agree to any deals with this party, did not get a good vibe. Anybody else have the same experience? Or am I just paranoid? If the mediator wants to look in my inbox the messages are still there.

I've had the exact same experience. Would not provide details of the part, would not provide a photo and just asked for payment. First thought was scammer.

When you finally decide you’re paranoid…..it doesn’t mean they’re still not trying to get you!
I had communication with a “carport701” and sure it was a scam!
Run run run

Not all gmail.com addresses are scammers, but 99% of all scammers has a gmail.com
address. On car sales they usually have female name plus a number @gmail.com.

Just a be careful warning with the gmail.com addresses.

I had the same offer and immediately decided it was a scammer. I use Gmail, so I don't think that is a deciding factor, but a very low message count tells a lot.

Both reply messages came from new members with 0 posts and identical messages. Then the texts were vague and did not answer my questions directly, and I had to ask repeatedly a couple of the same questions to get an answer. Most of my experience with true car people, my self included, love to talk about cars. No money exchanged.

After reading updraught's links, I feel like I dodged a bullet from this scammer. Thanks everybody for the input. This is still the best forum on the internet because of it's subscribers and it's contribution to the best hobby on the planet. Now how do we warn the others?

Tried to scam me on my search for a truck. I did a reverse google image search and found the same truck for sale on the east coast in a legitimate for sale site.
