Speedway distributer

Has anybody in Fordbarn land used the Speedway electronic distributer on 42 to 48 Flatheads. (part # 9108352). If so, what coil did you use? Speedway tech is recommending a 6 V0lt positive ground coil (part # 44740011) Seems strange to me that you would use a 6 volt coil on a 12 volt negative ground system.
