1934 Coupe gas tank issue

I have to replace tank, as the radiator shop said tank is beyond repair. Bought a bob drake replacement. Also bought a fuel pick up replacement from C.W. Moss. Fuel pick up looks nothing like the one that was in the tank.The one that was in tank has two threaded female lines and two lines that come out and go out in opposite direction(one appears crimped closed- factory looking).
The new one from C.W. moss has three male lines exiting the top- none of which appear to match up to any of my original one (all appear larger in size and none are crimped like the original.
I am at a total loss.......

Unless your old unit was damaged, it has no moving parts so it can't wear out. Why not clean it up and reuse it? New is not always the best answer, unless you want to convert your tank to having an electric sending unit rather than the original hydrostatic type.

If my recollection is correct, the Drake tanks use a 5 x 2-3/4 (modern) bolt pattern on the fuel gauge/fuel pickup, while the original uses a 6 x 2". You may need to fabricate an adapter (none marketed that I am aware of).

The new one could be (1) outlet , (2) return, T of after the pump (3) breather ,rubber hose set higher ,

There is an adapter available for the tank which allows the original hydrostatic gauge to be used . I have one on my tank . I either brought it with the tank or from one of the parts houses -Karl

Also, to my knowledge reproduction tanks lack the drain plug that all of the
originals have.

Thanks that's what I have . It allows you to use the original gauge and sender -However It pushes the whole Sender up by the thickness of the adaptor Which means I never see full on my gauge . I got around this issue by cutting out the original mount off an old tank and welded it into a new tank . Worked great until the POR -15 i put in to ensure the weld sealed well started to break off and run through the fuel line . I'm back to my old tank with adaptor while I remove the POR 15 from the other tank .

Yep just make sure who ever seals it is better at sealing it than I was. Funny some of it is stuck so hard its almost impossible to get off and in other areas its just flaking off-Karl

Karl you are correct.I bought one to use on a 35 sedan I had years ago.I had replaced the rotten orig gas tank with a new Drake tank.It raised the orig sender up to where it (brass tubes) rubbed the floor of the body.Just a word of caution.
