I was lucky enough to find a SW mechanical tach drive and in the process of installing it. There is a fairly thick washer that is used with the original bolt to keep the pulley in place. Does it need to be there with the drive unit ? I have very little clearance as it is in the 32 with a C69A and had to trim the u bolt upper bracket. The diameter of the drive unit is the same as the outside diameter of the washer. Tried to upload a pic with no luck.

There is no need for a spacer, there's a thick (1/4") flat washer between the gearbox and pulley. I'm out of the 674L tach drives at this time.

Somewhat confused. In the pic the spacer or washer depending on what it is called is visible. My question is, do I need it there or can I install the gear drive without it. The gear drive diameter is the same as the spacer. Thanks for the reply.

Just unbolt the gearbox and remove the spacer, it's not needed. It's hard to tell by the photo....but is there a pulley in place?
