I use Lucus 85w-140 gear oil. There's only 3 bearings and two gears, nothing too complicated. Check every 1000 miles and keep the level where you can see it in the bottom of the reservoir/breather opening.

I would try to reach out to Ronnie Roadster. He has run one for years on his '32 and is one of the top experts regarding the rebuilding of these super chargers.

What I use is a 90 weight synthetic gear lube this has worked perfectly in all of my Scot or Ital superchargers for many thousands of miles. The synthetic lube is what I recommend using for the many blowers I have built for others including GMC blowers. Remember to leave the gear case vent open so no pressure builds up in the case. The one time I got eyeballs on PeterC's '35, they fell out and stayed that way for two days! They don't get any better, neater, cleaner or more detailed a custom job than that one!

There is a switch for shifting the Columbia mounted just to the right of the radio head, and down at the bottom of dash panel which can be seen on Peter's car if you look carefully through the steering wheel. I believe that speedo cable is routed to that switch on the RIGHT side of car. But what do I know? DD |

Given how well that car is sorted out, I don't believe the turtle orientation was not purposely done, but who knows. The usual reason for strange alignment was when somebody shortens a torque tube and/or moves the radius arm mounts, they forget to align the turtle in the correct orientation. Have seen this issue multiple times!

![]() That is true! Peter gave me a shot at it. That is one of the FINEST old Fords on the planet. Whoever the "early bird" was, he made a wise decision. That coupe will ALWAYS be known as "PeterC's" coupe! . |
