New Brake Shoes
I've noticed that Bratton's has NEW lined brake shoes. Part #2580
Has anyone had any experience with them? Thanks for your help! |

Re: New Brake Shoes
Yep, most original brake shoes that are relined have issues in that the parabolic arc is incorrect or the roller track pin holes are enlarged out of specification. The new shoes correct those issues.

Re: New Brake Shoes
Well worth it. Most pin holes in the shoes are well worn. Some are so bad the shoes jam up when brakes applied hard.

Re: New Brake Shoes
So you guys have used them and I should buy not one, but a full set?
Talked to guy at Hershey about them. Apparently the shoe construction are spot welded together so he didn't care for them. But very true, the pin holes are very warn on mine over time. |

Re: New Brake Shoes
The guy who helped me do my brakes uses original shoes but I can see how that can be problematic. People also used to bend shoes as a poor man's method of arcing them to the drum.

in all of the years of making these shoes the defective rate on the production runs is less than .01%. |

Re: New Brake Shoes
I just re-lined shoes for AA. Fortunately I had 20 shoes to pick and choose best ones. Most shoes showed little wear in pin holes. I’m sure you could weld up and re-drill worn ones if you had to.
