1931 Traveler Wagon and Special Delivery
Long story short. I am looking for Ford literature on the 1930-1931 Special Delivery and the 1931 Traveler Wagon.
The Special Delivery was produced by Baker-Raulang and about 1000 were made. The Traveler Wagon had only 10 produced worldwide by Ford. Any information would be great. Advertisements, literature, Press releases, Specifics, etc.... |

Re: 1931 Traveler Wagon and Special Delivery
I did a Newspapers.com search and came up empty on the Traveler's Wagon but got some hits for the Special Delivery.
The earliest I found was an article in the January 6th 1931 Detroit Free Press, nothing in 1930. It is part of a larger article and starts at the bottom of a column and is split across another but here it is. Detroit_Free_Press_Tue__Jan_6__1931_ (1).jpg Detroit_Free_Press_Tue__Jan_6__1931_.jpg Throughout the rest of 1931 there are several references to the Special Delivery in an article about the 23 new Commercial Body types. This one is from The Wilkes Barre Tribune, May 8th, 1931. Wilkes_Barre_Times_Leader__The_Evening_News_Mon__May_18__1931_.jpg Other than some used car ads I don't see anything on the Special Deliveries in 1932. Back in 2013 I helped Jerry Dewitt pull a Special Delivery out of Vernon Burke's pole barn. The unrestored one that Tim Kelly owned was very impressive the construction of the body and how well it was made was evident throughout. They are a unique and cool vehicle. -Tim

That helps. Can you also do a newspapers search for the station wagon?

Re: 1931 Traveler Wagon and Special Delivery
Sure, there's 5,000+ search results for Ford and Station Wagon during '29-'31 so if you have more specific information to reduce the matches that would help. Most of these search results are for used car ads. You can send me a private message if you prefer.
The earliest I have found is from January 5 from the New York Daily News. Daily_News_Sat__Jan_5__1929_ (1).jpg Daily_News_Sat__Jan_5__1929_.jpg January 6 Brooklyn Times Union had this article. Brooklyn_Times_Union_Sun__Jan_6__1929_.jpg Brooklyn_Times_Union_Sun__Jan_6__1929_ (1).jpg I believe you can do a free ten day trial of Newspapers.com. May want to consider signing up for that and you can do a deep dive on it all.

Yeah, I posted those photos. Looking for literature and other documentation on the car. You never know what people have or run across.

Re: 1931 Traveler Wagon and Special Delivery
These are some pictures I took of the Special Delivery that was part of Vernon Burke's collection.
The front door handles were kind of unique to the 255A as both doors had a lock cylinder in the handle and the shaft was longer than normal to accommodate the thickness of the door.
