60 Falcon- lost keys
I put my only '60 Falcon's keys in a safe place; TOOO safe! we can't find them, the doors are unlocked and that is it. I need the ign key and trunk key. Which code will I get by removing the door lock? Thanks, Newc

Re: 60 Falcon- lost keys
I am not sure of the current market but when I had a key problem years ago with a '57 TBird it was only slightly more expenvice to replace all of the cylinders with new ones.

Re: 60 Falcon- lost keys
I bought new door locks last year for my F100 truck for the same reason, they were not much more than getting the keys made by a locksmith. You will have a hard time getting the ignition lock out though if you don't have a key.I think the doors and truck are the same key and the ignition is different.

Re: 60 Falcon- lost keys
Man, it's been awhile since I decoded a single cut key code but I think it's the first or top # on the lock cylinder for the ignition.
When working in a Ford dealer we had the codes and a punch-type cutter for single & double cut keys but I don't know who does them anymore. I'd think that a good lockshop should be able to decode them. But if you have the door key take it with you; they should be able to tell which code it is, and which one you'll need cut. |

Re: 60 Falcon- lost keys
My 64 fairlane had a key for the door and trunk, and a key for the ignition and glove box; I removed the lock on the glove box and had a key made for it; problem solved. I also have had good luck trying ford keys out of my gallon can; ther wwas only around 70 or so key combinations pre 65, so your chances are pretty good in that regard. Good luck!

Re: 60 Falcon- lost keys
pull a door lock and the glove box lock, if the codes are different you can then have just a key cut of the glove box which will be the same as ign, then either buy new door locks or have a new key cut, hope the glove box key fits the ign, alot easier than taking apart the ign
