hot rodding an 8ba questions
My motor's coming together. A couple of small stumbling blocks here that I'm sure someone in the audience can help with:
1. Does anyone have the part #'s for the Lincoln valve springs that are supposed to still be sold through NAPA? 2. Carburetion is two 94's on top of a Eddie Meyer high-rise. This manifold doesn't have a common plenum connecting the two carbs. In other words, one carb feeds the front four and one carb feeds the back four. This was explained to my carb builder. The invoice arrived showing one primary and one secondary (no pump or idle circuit). How's this going to work? Anyone ever done this? |

Hmmmm? I'd guess the linkage shouldn't be progressive with separate plenums. Jack E/NJ |

Re: hot rodding an 8ba questions
I got valve springs from Red's Headers, sold as "Lincoln". I liked the first set a while back, so am putting them in the one going together now... Karl

I don't think the carbs will work that way at all. At least not run well.

What the 2 Jacks said. That one neutered carb will make you and your motor very unhappy. Charlie ny |

Re: hot rodding an 8ba questions
Aren't they joined together in the area where the teardrop eddie meyer logo is on the top part?

Re: hot rodding an 8ba questions
Mart;
I also thought the area in the teardrop was a common plenum or crossover. Maybe they were in the originals. In the Speedway repop, no. Jacks; After a phone conversation and a letter I'm a little disappointed the builder didn't pay attention. It seems the way the carbs are the motor is only going to run on the front or back four until it gets off idle. The linkage is not progressive. My thought is turn the idle down and use a small pump. This, I guess, is the foible of 94's but we all try to make do with what we have. |

Re: hot rodding an 8ba questions
I spoke with the carb builder this a.m. He says the manifold is interconnected and I don't know what I'm talking about. He could be right. It wouldn't be the first time.........

Re: hot rodding an 8ba questions
Is this the intake you are using? Contact Don Orosco Motorsports - they are doing the casting work and they should know. Seems that area in the middle is a plenum

Re: hot rodding an 8ba questions
Oriiginal installed height on LZ springs was 2.130" and made spring seat pressure 48-51#'s. You can use the ISKY 185G springs @ 2.100" and get 55#'s or set @ 2.130" and get 45#'s. Yes installed height is that critical.
