Default interior door handle/latch (mystery) origin

All four doors have the same mechanism, which seems to work okay(on most of the doors), but the threaded knob diameter is too large for the proper handles. Someone must have gotten creative along the way(?), or am I missing something. Will likely need to replace all four. 'Wanted' ad to be posted once I figure it out. Any thoughts appreciated.

What's the year and body style? I don't recognize those door handles, except that they seem to be homemade.

'30 Town Sedan. I may need to just cut the pieces off that are too large, and weld correct material(size, angle of bend, etc) back on. I don't think I've seen any interior door latch mechanisms at swap meets, but maybe I wasn't paying attention.
