35 gas tank
Will the 35 tank in a coupe fit up into place with the neck fitted? I ask because I have an extra tank that I may send out to clean, and it still has the neck in place. It looks like it might not go in with the neck in place. The one in the car has a rubber elbow cobbled in.

Re: 35 gas tank
So,is that threaded sleeve just a big sleeve nut that holds the neck in place? I'm kind of assuming so because there are pipe wrench marks on the old sleeve. This tank has been dry and open for the last 40+ years so I won't mind using a little heat to help break it loose.

Yes, the sleeve holds the filler neck in place. It was designed for removal using a spanner wrench not a pipe wrench. That's why there are holes in the sleeve. Also, there is a lead washer that goes between the tank inner flange and the filler neck flange. I believe they are available, if not contact me.

Re: 35 gas tank
Your lucky, I just did my 35 tank, old one had big rust holes. The neck was so tight I ended up cutting out the solderered in piece with a sawzall and a torch. (Yes I had the spanner wrench)then I was able to get the tank out. Then I put the neck portion in a vise, and with a lot more heat it finally came out.

a growing boy needs to have some tools around, like a bulldozer ! i used to put heavy metal under the hough loader bucket and lift with the skid steer for a metal brake. they also make a good anchor for frame straightening.
