After about 15 years in the hands of another owner, I have my old '42 Staff Car back in my possession. I bought it first in 1992 as a Hot Rod, then spent the next 4 years restoring back to original with a G-series 6 Cyl. motor. I then sold it about 15 years ago to a military vehicle collector who managed to neglect the regular maintenance of the car. He offered it back to me recently and I was happy to take it back.
After sorting the wiring, refitting the hood properly, fixing the wiper motor, replaced all the perished tires, replacing soft engine mounts and bolted the rear axle back in properly to name a few fixes. I have been able to drive it again. However his 'new' paint job leaves a lot to be desired and the headliner is quite shabby, but all can be fixed given time and money. I am enjoying the drive and renewing an old friendship in the process

Is one of the 10 or so that were at Burnham Military Camp ,Christchurch? My dad remembers them when he was in the Army in the early 50's. still being used after being left behind by the US Army after the War.

Good on ya! I have a '42 Tudor in civilian dress named Eleanor. All original and a Rouge winner, we drive her every chance we get. Was the cover car on the EV8 magazine a couple months ago.

Here is a picture from 1969 I believe. ![]() I'd be interested to know if your dad remembers if any of the Burnham cars were 6 cylinder versions?

Why would you remove the paint from the grille and trim?
This is the way it is supposed to be for a genuine '42 Ford Staff Car No bright work anywhere on the vehicle.

I have some what I suspect old police blue light cruiser lights from the 50s. |

They are bigger then a HD rear stoplight, which I added to show scale. Maybe they are for a HD police bike. Sorry they aren't clean, been in a box for a bit.
![]() As I mentioned, I don't really know exactly what they are from. |
