Thinking about buying one and restoring to stock. Any members with pictures? The price is around 10 grand. Is that about correct for a complete, straight original?
Any help would be apreciated. Brian |

Not a bad price if all parts are there and there is very little rust. If you have to put in a bunch of patch panels( the repo panels are of questionable quality) and a lot of body work it could get real expensive. Make sure it has the door garnish mouldings(very hard to find), all the window regulators, the top motor and cylinders, and all the top latch brackets, bows, etc. There's also some special brackets on the frame that supports the cowl that are unique to a convertible. Fenders, hood and other sheetmental will interchange with a closed car. Do you homework and if it has all the right parts go for it.

That sounds like a really good price for a complete original convertible. We've owned ours for 15 years and I've driven it over 50,000 miles. I'm getting ready to give her a new paint job and top.

Thanks Graeme, I need to adjust the hood at the cowl on the driver’s side but I think I'll hold off until I'm ready to repaint.

I actually took the hood springs off my '47 Ford convertible to get a better hood/cowl/fender fit. I then installed a hood holder from a guy down in LA I believe it was. It was telescopic and ran along the inside of the hood and attached at exisiting points on the hood and cowl. Was virtually invisible. Once you opened your hood you gave it a twist and your hood stayed open. It really allowed the hood to fit alot better. I ditched the hood springs on my '47 Chevy then too.
