My 1930 Model A engine was rebuilt several years ago by a family aquaintance. I was told at the time that a gasket was missing between the engine block and the flywheel housing. There has alway has been a serious oil leak. The engine probably has 50 miles on the rebuild.
I am going to install the missing gasket. My question is how to support the engine out of the vehicle? The picture on Victor Page restorer book shows two paralel angle irons that the engin is resting on. Snyder has an engine stand adapter that appears the engin would be vertical rather than horizontal. I have rebuilt several VW engines and two American V8 engines. My engine stand has a horizontal axis and the Snyder adapter appears the Model A engin would be vertical. |

I used the adapter that the vendors sell, along with a standard engine stand.
This allows you to rotate the engine 360° end-for-end. It works very well. I pulled my engine to do the exact same repair as you mention, the gasket between the block and the flywheel housing was missing.....quite a leak!

The gasket can be installed 2 ways only one is correct . Make sure that the gasket covers the camshaft .
