I was wondering how to tighten up the rivets on the rear bumper brackets of a tudor?

Thanks for any suggestions.

hold a big block of steel (like a sledge hammer) on one side, and hit the other side with a large hammer. Two people make it easier.

Thank you for the help. I wasn't sure if I had to heat the rivet to get it to crush.

It would be difficult to heat the rivet where it needs to crush. You would end up mashing the ends and probably not swell the center, where it needs to tighten. Others may dissagree, but I would try it cold.

Best result will come from removing the old rivets and setting new ones red hot. Not that difficult if you remove the brackets.

We did as in post 3 and by placing a very thin foil thickness u shaped metal shim between bracket and bar. No damage to paint except rivet heads.
