Default Third Brake Light -- Station Wagon Options

Has anyone with a 150 A/B mounted an LED third brake light? If so, I'd love to see/read how you installed it.

I'm debating mounting it on the underside of the rear roof cross piece and running the wiring inside the car, across the top, down the side and and then down through a small hole in the floorboard. This would of course be covered in a period looking wiring loom vs. the bright plastic wires showing. The downside is I'd have to drill the wood for the angle brackets and I'd have a wiring loom attached and visible when looking in the car.

The other option I'm exploring is off the bottom of the tailgate. This would require more fabrication due to the center hinge, but would not require drilling holes in the finished wood. Downside is the light is not in a traditional 3rd brake light position and will not look as clean from the outside of the car.

If I were to install one on my wagon, I would probably try and mount the strip of metal on the inside of the tailgate (between the tailgate and rear seat). That way I could use the carriage bolts to hold it in place to the tailgate and run the wires down towards the floor and off to the side. I don't have rear curtains though so those may cause interference with that placement area. Not sure if there's anywhere near the curtain tray that it could be securely attached?

Some station wagons including Ford's back in the era of the single tail light that was mounted in the middle of the tail gate, had a hinge on them so when the tail gate was dropped the light swung down. Several of the V8 suppliers carry them.
