Is The early 1928 Radiator shell made on?
While the radiator is out of the car I would like to take it to my local radiator shop for a cleaning and repair of a suspected leak. New to the early As was surprised to find that the shell seems crimped on to the neck. Is there a trick to separating the two ? Thanks

I just had mine off and it was just a snug slip fit over the neck. I suggest using something to hold down the radiator while lifting on the shell, maybe a foot or something like that.

Never seen one crimped on at the neck. They were made just to slip over after you removed the fasteners on the side of the radiator. Maybe someone else has seen this.

"If" in fact it is an Original radiator ?? That cant be as then you would not be able to screw on the cap..

What would crimping the shell to the neck on a 28/29 have to do with screwing on the cap?

Be sure the radiator shop doesn't use more than a couple pounds of pressure to check the for leaks, or they may screw up a perfectly usable radiator. |

Re: Is The early 1928 Radiator shell made on?
I had a similar problem on my 29 Tudor, someone in the past, had soldered the shell to the neck of the radiator.
The radiator neck had rusted away and that's how it was fixed? |
