trouble with Photobucket?
Is anybody else having trouble signing on to Photobucket? I've been using it for many years, especially for sharing photos on FordBarn, but now I get a warning, "... name on security certificate is invalid ...", and I have to use Window's Task Manager to get rid of the alert.

Must be you, works as intended for me, just a bit slow loading up, and with the speed I am running I think it is them.

Re: trouble with Photobucket?
You don't need to use Photobucket to post a photo(s) on Fordbarn. There is a pane on the bottom of the screen that comes up when you start a new post or respond to a post "Manage Attachments". That lets you browse your computer for the photo(s) you want to attach. It works great to attach pictures.

Re: trouble with Photobucket?
No problems here with Photobucket. Logged right in to my account.
It sounds to me like you have a virus or at least a hack. If you click on the link and enter your log in data, you will likely be releasing that info to a bad guy. And since many use the same user name and password for other accounts it will allow them to access them. eMail Photobucket and ask them if it is their standard practice to show the message you see and/or "clean" your computer with known good software. The best long term solution (IMHO) is switch to a Mac. wrndln...having Fordbarn host your pictures has two downsides...it uses up Fordbarn bandwidth ($$'s) and your pictures are smallish and need an additional click by a viewer to get them a little bigger. Also, if you are ONLY storing your pictures on your computer, you are likely to loose all of them if you have a hard drive failure.

Re: trouble with Photobucket?
Dick,
I backup my files about every two weeks or so, so I can't loose much if I have a computer or hard drive failure. There is a down side to Photobucket. I once looked at a posters picture on Fordbarn and hit some key (I can't remember which) and I could access everything in the Photobucket's directory on his computer. I talked to another Fordbarner and he had the same experience as I did. I don't know what happened, as it was about 2 or 3 years ago that it occurred. Maybe that has been fixed on Photobucket, but using Fordbarn's method couldn't have that happen. Rusty Nelson |
