I am almost finished with my V8 tractor (I am building a 9N tractor with an '50 8BA). I hope to start it this weekend. I have the original hard vacuum line from distributor to carburetor but it is rusty and bent up. I am having a hard time finding a source for this part. All the websites I see list '48 and back but not '49-53. The ends appear to be unique. Will the '48 one work? It looks short from the picture, but hard to know. Do I just cut it off and use the ends with rubber tube between? Thanks!

My Ford parts book shows 8BA-12226 3/16" diameter 23.31" long.
There is a note that that number was replaced with a different number which is a 25ft roll of 3/16" brake line, so just use 3/16" brake line. Bob |

If you don't have the brake line, model and hobby stores have thin wall tubing in short lengths.

Maybe I am not seeing it right but the ends do not look like a double flare to me? The look like the tube is more male past the nut.

It's a 3/16" male single crimp nut that crimps itself on to the steel tube when tightened against the inner surface of the female side.
As stated cut the tube and drive out to fit on new tube.

NAPA sells the "Ford Nuts" that are used on each end, see below, it's a Weatherhead piece. They are like 50 cents apiece.
edit: Whoa! they've gone up, $1.35 each. https://www.napaonline.com/napa/en/p...00X3/WH_6100X3

Thanks Ross, I was gonna get some just to have them around, but now they're up to $1.49 and they're out of stock! Looks like I wasn't the first to think of this.

But since I no longer use the Load-a-crapic, no need for them!

That cupro-nickel tubing might be the hot smokin tip for this plus the two compression fittings.
