Default Beware: the Hoffman Group, Portland, OR

Almost 2 weeks ago I placed an order with Shoe Box Central for a set of Yellow cloth wrapped spark plug wires for the 8ba in my '39 p/u. Got an immediate order confirmation from Chris so I thought all was well. Long story short the wires didn't come and when I contacted Chris he told me the wires were coming directly from his supplier but he would check on the status. Well, he never was able to get a call back from the supplier, the Hoffman Group in Portland, OR (even though he has been a dealer of theirs for years). Chris did the right thing and immediately refunded my $$ and its not his fault that the supplier was non responsive. I then contacted another vendor who advertised the same wires and they told me that they were on back order from the Hoffman group and had been for over a year. I'd think twice before ordering anything from the Hoffman Group in Portland, OR. JMO.

I also posted this over on the HAMB and it certainly seems as though this company is bad news. Lesson learned.

Did you try Sacramento Vintage Ford? I believe they make their own cloth covered wires.

Try The Brillman Company or Rhode Island Wiring Service for cloth covered wires.

Thumbs up to Chris for that. But I am surprised he purchases from the well known inferior product Hoffman group. Read the posted list and remember who to avoid.

It's incredible that this company with its many subsidiaries continues to survive.
Their business plan motto must be "Suckers, there's one born every minute".

They keep popping up with new names for companies all the time and a lot of people get suckered in by that. Generally, if they have the cheapest price or free shipping on a product you research, then you need to find out if its a Hoffman Group company.

I bought a fan from the Hoffman group after listening to the slick talking salesman tell me that their fan was the greatest on the market. I said since that was the case, I would like to connect it to one of the batteries that had in the booth. He emphatically resisted but finally agreed. It was so out of balance the fan just clattered against the frame attracting a lot of attention. I said that I would like to take advantage of their 60 day warranty and get my money back. I think he was happy to see me go.
