Default help - 1935 colum light switch

hello folks - I'm having a little problem wiring the light switch at the bottom of the column on my '35. As you can see from the pictures below when I opened the bag with my switch loom in it only 1 wire was connected to the Bakelite contact plate. I have no idea where any of the wires should go...

the wires I have hanging in the wind are:-
red with a black tracer
green with a black tracer
yellow with a black tracer

there is 2 wires connected which are black with a blue tracer and there is a yellow/red wire and a green wire joined and connected to a terminal but I don't know if they are on the correct terminals on the Bakelite plate.

can someone also tell me in which direction the piece on the bottom column should point please.

thanks

Hi Everyone, weemark, check the wiring diagram to see if that clears things up.

Very tangled that makes the wiring part easy, figured it out from that diagram. I guess what threw me was the wires are a slightly different - they have reversed the colours and are using the tracer wire as the main colour... Hey ho.

I guess from that I could work out the position of the little spider that goes on the end of the column but if someone was able to confirm the position that would be great

The plate that the wires attach to at the bottom has notches on it that fit into the metal housing. Should be a snap.

Hi there, Original Ford switches had all the wires crimped in and soldered to the terminals so no chance of them being pulled off the terminals. Your switch plate must be a reproduction. Make sure those push on terminals are really tight. Regards, Kevin.

Kevin yes it's a repro switch plate. Once the push on terminals are on I am going to solder them to the connections on the Bakelite plate so they don't come off because they don't seem very tight to me.
