Vince,
As you know, all MARC meets in the past have had a swap meet component. I don't know why this one would be any different from past meets. I have never sold at a MARC meet like you have, so I have no idea if there is an extra fee for sellers, but I suspect there is.

It's hard if not impossible for many working people to attend these meets...
my problem is the main events are not on a Saturday so I guess I'll never attend one until I am retired

You'll have to ask the boss for the week off.

Actually that's what I did back in 1999.
The heat and humidity at Kansas City was a killer, and made it hard to be outside to enjoy the cars.

The sellers swap meet spaces are $30.00 for registered members. I don't know about buyers.

I have attended 5 or 6 MARC meets in the past 8 years since retired and none have charged buyers at the swap meet. I can't believe the Toledo meet would start now.

I'm using my vacation to go to the one in NY in September. I'm using it to visit family as well. BUT yes not having it over a weekend has kept me from going to more.

I wish I could go. I am still a working stiff, too. I went last year because it was easy to justify Niagara Falls as a vacation. Tough to get younger people involved when the activities are during the week. Not that I am a younger guy, but I am still working and won't retire for a few more years.

Having the car judging and owners meetings on a Saturday would bring renewed interest to these meets. (New people, More cars, and Higher revenue). The other precluding events could take place during the week for those that want and are able to attend. Many working folk could squeeze out a Friday for travel, spend Saturday at the show and return home Sunday. AACA does it this way on all their national meets for this reason. Telling my wife were taking our vacation to a Model A meet and nix the Caribbean beach trip won't sit to well here. I'm sure the status quo will never change so for me personally I have a long wait to be able to bring a car for a Wednesday judging event. I hope everyone has a great time and posts some pics afterwards.

It is "Tough to get younger people involved" period. I have approached many young kids asking if they wanted to restore a Model A...to many negitive responces..."lack of money"..."cost to much"..."rather do a hot rod"...

But back to the original post...there shouldn't be "late fees" attached to any MARC or MAFCA meets what-so-ever.

I think the late fee is necessary for the planning aspect of a meet. If everyone waited to show up and register how do you tell the hotel who's coming for dinner, or how big an area is needed for judging car's. How many welcome bags and all the info that goes into registration, or how big a room for the lectures.

It just comes down to being considerate for the people who put in hundred's of hours to put something like this together.

Obviously the registration was extended because not enough people registered! The agenda must be formatted to meet the needs of the attendees not the organizers. Many people can not sacrifice their wages and cassation time to attend, it is time the organizers got in tune with the membership! Wayne

Right on, Ed! The differences is the lesser cost is an incentive for planning purposes, and the higher cost is not a penalty.

I host a national metal meet once a year (not Model A related) , and I can tell you, it's a horrible situation to try and account for food and other costs when it is unclear as to how many folks you are going to have to accommodate.

Ed,

Unfortunatly no. It would be fun but have had to much vacation time this year as it is.

Hope you have fun and thanks for asking.
