Default 32 four cylinder hand priming pump engine damage ?

It has been suggested by one of the USA's authorities on Model B carburettors and fuel pumps that the installation of a hand priming fuel pump will "damage the engine".

I have such a pump on my 32 Model B. Surely if the configuration of the lift arm and spring tension of such is identical no damage would result ?

Any thoughts on this???

The hand priming pump shown in the photos is not an "off the shelf" variety but one made up of various AC fuel pump components by a man who knows his Fords.

I have had many "hand prime" pumps apart, all the lever does is pull the diaphram down without interfering with the other mechanism

If it has the proper lever for the cam, and the proper spring to make correct fuel pressure it will work the same as original pump with the added function of the priming lever

How is supposed to damage the engine? Never heard that one before.
Sounds like hog shit to me.

That is baloney. Your WW II Military Jeeps used a hand primer fuel pump as standard issue on the Ford or Willys versions. You will be fine.

If the fuel pump is normal, why would you need a hand pump?????

Saves wear and tear on the starter motor and battery, especially if the car is not driven regularly. Think of it as a pump to prime the carburetor whose fuel may have evaporated over time. It seems an especially good idea for use with an updraft carburetor such as on a stock Model B.
