Which is the best available rubber floor mat for the 30 Tudor ?
I purchased a new one a few years ago and it just tears up like old constuction paper when you take it out and put it back in. it's the right design, just the material is poor for seriviceability, it's brital rubber at best. |

I bought one from Brattons and is of good quality.... They are made to fit different models depending on how you cut it..... I was happy with it so ck your other options..
I am talking about the front mat is universal for different models... The back is standard fit for a Tudor |

I bought my first front mat in the early 90's for my 29 Tudor. It was one of the dealers at the National meet. Wish I could recall which dealer because it was made specific for the parking brake location, so you had no extra outlines showing.
I still haven't installed it, so it may also be getting brittle and tear when I install it. |

Or you could use it for a pattern for carpet. Unless you want it all originally restored.

That's a good idea Ray has to reinforce the backside with duct tape. The original rubber mats had fabric reinforcing molded into the rubber around the holes that fit around the floor studs.

Thanks for that tip. I too have had issues with the rubber tearing.

I can sometimes get it from a local coffee roaster or Mexican mercado, both of which buy beans and produce in bulk in burlap bags. That's usually free or cheap. I think canvas could be used in the same way if you can't find burlap.

Only one company makes Model A floor mats, so anywhere you buy one, you are getting the same mat.

But back on topic. I bought a new front floor mat for my '30 Tudor but it doesn't fit snugly and I think I have to trim it around the front seat mounts and the shift tower. I have 1/2" of foam padding on the floor already and that might be causing it to not fit right too. Have you guys had the same experience? Is the floor mat off a bit or has my Tudor shrunk a bit? |
