68C junkyard pic
This picture was posted on the HAMB board that shows a Cabriolet in a junkyard in Milwaukee. There has been many questions about the 68C having a full bumper on the back and seems like noone can for sure know if it was factory. This car seems like a 68C in a junkyard in 1936 with a full rear bumper, not bumperettes.
Would this be correct and settle the question? Sure looks like a 1931 68C. |

Re: 68C junkyard pic
I have a picture of my aunt's 1931 Standard Coupe, she purchased it new in So. Calif. It has a full bumper on the rear. Unfortunatly I don't know if it was dealer installed or factory ? This picture appeared in a early issue of " Model A Times".

Re: 68C junkyard pic
It's a 32' cabriolet with a 28/29 Model A front bumper.

Re: 68C junkyard pic
I agree the panel looks too high but I believe the bumper is a 30/31 front or the full rear. The spare in the well looks like a 19". In a close up the bumper looks bent on the right side and is hanging down. After all it is in a junkyard. Imagine a 31 or 32 Cabriolet being in a junkyard in 1936 in this condition.

Re: 68C junkyard pic
It does look a little wide, I'll have to look at mine tomorrow and compare. A 32 with a Model A bumper?

You had better take plenty of money. They would probably cost $1.00 to $2.00 each ! MIKE |

Re: 68C junkyard pic
You'all sure reading a lot into an obscure photo! Does not look a '32 to me[ bumper & tailight etc. wrong] & not even positive it is a Model A. Of course a side mount spare would have had full rear bumper, but so did other makes. Tailamp looks a bit high, fenders not wide enough [ & painted body color] & top window too big. Dare I say, it may be Chev or similar. Of course I may be completely wrong!

Re: 68C junkyard pic
Dennis O. / Mike [If i had a time machine i would not mess with "USED" fenders or spend $1.00 to $2.00 ] "NEW" or should i say N.O.S. would cost you in 1930/31's ,,$7.00 plain and $7.50 for fender with wells. Lets face it -if we had a time machine i would be buying gold , stock in Gas companies ,and when IBM started and APPLE . If we all want to dream i would also buy a warehouse in 1930/31.32 somewhere where its dry and out of the way place and fill it with "NEW" DUESENBERG auto's and parts!!!!!! and maybe a BIG BRASS Tomas Flyer .Ok i'll go for the # 1 Ford built too. ALL cars with "NO" miles on them.
