Coker Tire Tip
Just bought a new B. F. Goodrich Silvertown 3½" whitewall Coker tire from Summit Racing. Same price as from Coker but without the $45.00 shipping. And, I received it the next day after ordered!

Re: Coker Tire Tip
Summit won't ship to Alaska! No way -- no how!
Shipping from Coker, just double the price of the tires and you have what they would charge me for freight.

Re: Coker Tire Tip
Do summit do the Firestone blackwalls?
They must be ok with their shipping then Lawrie? I know one of our guys in the club ordered rims and tyres from Summit for his compact. He said they where here in a week..

Re: Coker Tire Tip
Summit carries a lot of stuff that is not in their catalog. You can call them or e-mail and they will tell you if they carry the item.

I go to the Summit warehouse in Reno during Hot Augest Nites. Everything is 10% off everything in their catalog.

Re: Coker Tire Tip
I met up with the guys at Coker at the Turkey Run last month and talked about tires for my dads 54 (other make) stake body. They offered free shipping if purchased there at the show for a total cost of $700. When we corrected them and said we needed 6 tires (rear duals) not four, the price went to $1,200. Makes me wonder what's going on at Coker.

Re: Coker Tire Tip
I never liked the idea of Coker's name being on my cars. He is overpriced, seldom offers any real discounts & I don't think he appreciates the people who put him where he is. I go to Diamond Back for any wide whites. Nicest people around, they do all their stuff in house (no call centers located in India or offshore) & never in any hurry to get you off the phone. Good people.

Re: Coker Tire Tip
Hoss, that's a lot of words there. Just words, IMHO. ...And since when did those offshore folks get that neat Chattanooga accent?

Re: Coker Tire Tip
I recently put a set of Coker s on my 40 coupe...16x7.50 and 16x5.50.....a friend was bring in two old 47 sedans and a load of Hotrod related stuff in a 40 foot container. He offered to ship my tyres in the box for me.It cost me £840. ($1,306) thats with my duties and taxes paid etc.The price to buy them from a dealer over here is £ 1,200 inc V.A.T(sales tax)that works out at $1,886 U.S.....or $ 471 per corner ,phew!
It definitely pays to get them brought over if you can. |

For my 39 coupe I bought 5 x600.16 firestone wide whites and tubes etc ,a 15 inch coker radial whitewall and new wheel (original style ) and a hubcap for my 51 f1 (spare) delivered to my house in kent from Hampshire by John the owner of North Hants Tyres I dropped off the 5 rims at the ROG at Blenheim palace and got them back fitted but deflated as I needed to paint the rims ,the total cost was a touch over £1300 cash ,I had to barter a bit for a deal but easy to deal with and very pleased with the whole episode , those firestones are lovely and some non car people cant understand how I can get a very slight erection by looking at such beauties. cheers Jim. |
