Default windsheild glass replacement

Whats the trick to getting out stuck screws to replace the glass in a 29 coup. I've soaked them with WD40, Trans fluid and acetone, PB blaster, put heat to them, and they don't budge----any tricks?

That can be a very tedious job! but keep 'em soaking. I went through that years ago. Without a fine point acetylene torch flame to really heat up the screws, it was a small, cold rolled chisel & hammer, tapping counterclockwise on each head. They finally budged, I remember using vise grips too. I think 2 broke off & had to drill & re tap but not a hard job there. Time with soaking is the key, I think.

it is pretty easy to damage the head of a small slot screw such that drilling it out is easiest. Then drill it out with a bit smaller than the thread diameter and use an easy out, run a tap through it, then replace the screw.

DON.T use an ez-out they are made to extract a bolt or screw that snaps off when installed and not an old rusted in part. If you need to extract a rusted in bolt or screw drill in the exact center with a drill smaller than the threads and pick out the remains. some machine shops can remove rusted fasteners with an electrolysis type machine also if needed. once an ez-out breaks off you are left with fewer options to fix the mess you have created. I speak from experience!

Valve grinding compound on driver tip gives some bite, lay wind shield
down flat, use a driver with hex shank, push down hard, small wrench
on hex, and turn carefully! Someone posted about using engraving
pencil maybe vibrate on screw? Have not tried that trick. Good luck
keep us posted

If the glass is removed, heat will almost always work. Heat the head cherry red, but don't melt the head. Sometimes quenching the hot screw will help break the rust seal. If you try to unscrew the small screws while hot, they usually come out. Once the heads cool down, the screws can also usually be removed. Sometimes on real stuck screws, it takes 2 or 3 heat cycles to break the screws loose. This is the way I removed the screws from my 28 special coupes windshield. Good luck.

I've been told that iodine works good for loosening seized bolts and screws but never tried it myself.
