Default OT - Go Vintage Southeastern Greyhound Lines and Leave the Driving to Us

The Greyhound Line started back in 1914 when Carl E. Wickman began transporting miners in Minnesota from Hibbing, to Alice, for fifteen cents a ride. Today we are sharing with you many fine pre-war Greyhound images from Lexington, Kentucky on The Old Motor.

Imagine having a steward on an intercity bus nowadays. Of course, nowadays, a security guard might be more useful.

Neat old bus in the 1934 Clark Gable/Claudette Colbert flick, 'It Happened One Night',,, a Frank Capra movie.

Good movie watch for it on TCM or get it on Netflix.

Remember when the ladies, and men as well, dressed in their nicest clothes to go shopping, ride on busses, planes, cars? Now a days, damned near anything goes that at least partially covers your nakedness. I heard a gal talking on the radio about the way she was dressed. She said, she didn't dress up like she did if she was going to Wal-Mart. I sort of had difficulty wrapping my head around that remark. LOL

Lawson, Sounds like you've seen a few of those "Walmart Girls" emails making the rounds!

On a different note about how poeple dress, it was over 100º here in Livermore Ca today, and i saw a Brass Era club tooling down the road, all the men in vintage blue suits with stiff, tall collars, the ladies in corsets and ankle length dresses with high necklines and bonnets. Makes me glad for the V8 Era!

Damn, just remembered, I used to wear shirts with collar stays all the time!

I hate to think what she must have looked like, admitting she wasn't dressed up sufficiently to go to Walmart. That is very hard to get your head around. Just when you think our culture can sink no further...
